June 2014

  • Art Poems 2014 has been published and is available on Amazon. Several of our members are contributors.
  • Joan Heller Winokur’s new book, The Sand Recognizes My Footprints, has just been released by Aldrich Press.
  • Lew Knickerbocker‘s novel, Jockey on a Crocodile, has been selected by the Library of Congress Talking Books on Tape program for inclusion in its library.

July 2014

  • Joe Pacheco’s poem, Where Were You on July 20, 1969, was published on Your Daily Poem.
  • Tom Conti has published his first book, My Cross to Bear. It only took him two and a half years. It takes a lot longer for some of us.
  • The Buffalo News published a new op-ed by Joseph Martin, “Reading – A Magic Carpet Ride.”
  • The Janus Code by J.C. Ferguson (Judy Loose) has been selected as a finalist in Adult Suspense Fiction for the FAPA President’s Awards.
  • Recipes and Life by Alice Oldford has been selected as a finalist in Home & Garden by the FAPA President’s Awards.

August 2014

  • 2014 FAPA President’s Book Awards:
    J.C. Ferguson (Judy Loose) won a Gold Medal in Adult Fiction: Action/Suspense for The Janus Code.
    Alice Oldford won a Gold Medal in Home and Garden for Recipes and Life.
    Patty Brassard Jefferson won a Silver Medal Children’s Picture Books for Stu’s Big Party.
  • Joseph Martin’s Op-Ed, “The Left Turn People,” was published in the News Press in July. In September the Buffalo News will publish his piece, “You can’t go home again.”
  • Check out the Santiva Chronicle online. We have at least four members writing for them: Bob McCarthy, Tim Jacobs, Lorraine Walker Williams, Jose Colon, and Ben Feldman.
  • Patrick T. Crissy was presented the “Key to the City” of his hometown Hornell, NY for his contribution to the city in his book Interference.
  • August 20 Patrick Crissy will speak on “Tough Love for Writers” to the ABC authors in Sarasota, FL.

September 2014

  • Chuck Highfield has published his third novel, Sanibel’s Secret Bank.

January 2015

  • Tim Jacobs will discuss his book, H.E. Heitman, Fort Myers Early Entrepreneur, at the Downtown Fort Myers Library, February 11, 2015, 10AM.
  • Joyce (jd) Daniels novella, Minute of Darkness and Eighteen Flash Fiction Stories, will be released on January 30, 2015. The Launch Party will be at The Arts for Acts Gallery in downtown Fort Myers on that date from 6-8PM. She invites all to come help celebrate the occasion. She will be reading from the book on Feb. 19th at the C & W Fudge Shop in Matlacha, 7-8PM.
