A STORYTELLING VALENTINE:
STORYTELLERS BRING STORIES OF LOVE TO THE ALLIANCE FOR THE ARTS
Live storytelling is back at the Alliance for the Arts on Friday, February 4th from 7pm to 9pm. Storytellers of the Round Table and The Elephant Showcase Storytellers will take the stage to tell their tales of love lost and love gained.
The tellers, in order of appearance, will be Dr. Joel Ying, Mary Lou Williams, Rhonda Brazina and Marilyn Graham.
Dr. Joel will tell two folk tales, “Three Sacks of Truth” and “The Spring of Youth” that originate from Asian folklore; Mary Lou will tell two fractured fairy tales, humorous retellings of “Kermit, the Frog Prince” and “The Porcelain Man,” one based on a Grimm’s Brothers tale, the other on a modern day fairy tale; Rhonda will tell two personal stories, “Left Behind” and “Circle of Love” that link her life as an infant to her life as a mother; Marilyn will also tell two
personal stories, “Trombone Tale” and “Requited Love,” the first about unrequited love and the second about requited, as the title declares.
Experience the power of the spoken word. Captivating, spellbinding, and entertaining. The stories will be followed by a Talk Back, which is a Q&A session with the audience.
Meet the storytellers. Discover the stories behind the stories.
The Alliance for the Arts is located at 10091 McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers. The ticket price is $18 for members and $20 for non-members. To purchase tickets visit www.artinlee.org or call 239-939-2787.
