Dear GCWA member:
If you attended Saturday’s monthly meeting at Saint Hilary’s, you learned that two of our members will receive awards from FAPA [Florida Authors and Publishers Association]. Patti Walsh and Ginger Wakem will accept a President’s Book Award at the association’s annual meeting in Orlando on August 1 and 2. Whether they will receive the gold, silver or bronze remains a mystery until next month.
Both books launched in 2024. Ginger’s entry is Trust No One, Promise Nothing, described as a Mafia thriller. Patti’s middle-grade Celtic-inspired fiction is Hounded. We’ll celebrate with them when they come home with their awards in August.
But Ginger and Patti are not our only notable writers. It’s time to come out of your self-effacing shell and tell us about your achievements.
Please send me an email. I love hearing from our members. This time I want you to tell me about some of your accomplishments as a writer. Have you recently been published? Have you been honored for your work? Are you in final edit? Have you scored a coup with a publisher or agent?
We heard in June from ten of our members who are honing their pitching techniques. A few of them are on the verge of being published. Let us hear from all of you. As we heard in Saturday’s meeting: “You’re a writer. So write!”
Many of you have told me about your writing journeys in conversation, and I appreciate hearing your progress. Now we want to build a written record of our members’ activities. So please help this effort by sending me an account of your achievements. It can be in resume form, or as a list, or as a narrative. Just share in whatever way you choose. With your permission we’ll add your news to our new website.
Thank you for participating. We all want to know each other better and to cheer each other’s work.
Write on.
Mary
