Mary Charles

After a New York career in luxury goods marketing, Mary moved to SWFL and became an essayist and memoir writer, spurred by the pandemic that isolated us. She found Gulf Coast Writers during that time, as well as the hurricane-season fiction contest in Florida Weekly. These pursuits also led her into the art of oral storytelling which she practices before local audiences. Most of her stories rise from personal experience. She is inspired by the support and camaraderie of her Gulf Coast Writers family.

Sara Crummett Carillo

I'm Sara Carillo, author of fiction, romance and suspense novels. Bella Books, seven titles, Sara Marx Sunstar Books, one title, Sara M Marx Indie Pub, one title, Sara Crummett I have also served as ghost writer for romance novelists who are now actually dead. Over the years I have subsidized my writing career with radio and television voiceover and announcing, including guest hosting on the Home Shopping Network and playing dead people in true crime reenactments because I can really make it look like I'm not breathing. When I'm not writing for dead people or playing one on TV, I am the proud parent to two adult children who are successful healthcare workers because my creative patchwork career scared the hell out of them. I'm going to take that as a win. My wife is a television sportscaster and has enjoyed enough success to never have had to play dead. We have three dogs, mostly doodles, mostly insane. We live near the beach in Naples.
